MAU｜VCD Graduation Exhibition

A Multifaceted Gaze

Created in my fourth year at university, this visual design was produced for the “Musashino Art University, Department of Visual Communication Design Graduation Exhibition.” The department explores diverse forms of expression grounded in “seeing” and “communicating.”

To reflect this philosophy, I adopted the pencil as a symbol of creation and the basic forms of circle, triangle, and square. A single object shifts entirely with a change of perspective, while also appearing as an abstract symbol—revealing the layered nature and fascination of “seeing.”

The catalog arranged the pencil from the front, side, and cross-section across its cover, spine, and back, letting viewers experience changes in perspective throughout. This concept extended to posters and DM, giving the exhibition a unified identity.

多角的まなざし

大学4年時に制作した「武蔵野美術大学 視覚伝達デザイン学科 卒業制作展」のビジュアルデザイン。視覚伝達デザイン学科は「見る」と「伝える」を基盤に、多様な表現を実践的に探求する教育を行っています。

学科の理念を示すモチーフとして、創造の原点「鉛筆」と図形の基本要素「丸・三角・四角」を採用。一つの対象でも視点を変えれば全く異なる姿を映し出します。さらに、具象物でありながら抽象的な記号としても読み取れ、「視ること」の多層性と魅力を浮かび上がらせています。

作品集は鉛筆を正面・側面・断面からとらえ、表紙・背表紙・裏表紙に配置。視点と造形の変化を一冊を通じて体感できる構造に。このコンセプトをポスターやDMにも展開し、展覧会全体に統一感を与えました。
