MAU｜VCD Graduation Exhibition

A Multifaceted Gaze

Visual identity for the “Musashino Art University, Department of Visual Communication Design Graduation Exhibition.” The department explores diverse forms of expression grounded in “seeing” and “communicating.”

To reflect this philosophy, the pencil was chosen as a symbol of making, combined with the fundamental forms of circle, triangle, and square. By shifting the viewpoint, a single object transforms entirely—yet it can also read as an abstract sign—revealing the layered fascination of perception.

The catalog places the pencil’s front view, side view, and cross-section across the cover, spine, and back, allowing viewers to experience changes in perspective as they hold and turn it. The system extended to posters and DM, forming a unified identity for the exhibition.

多角的まなざし

武蔵野美術大学 視覚伝達デザイン学科 卒業制作展のビジュアル・アイデンティティ。学科が掲げる「見る」と「伝える」を基盤に、多様な表現を探求する姿勢を可視化することを目的としました。

その思想を反映するため、制作の象徴として「鉛筆」をモチーフに採用し、円・三角・四角という基本形と組み合わせて構成。視点が変わることで同一の対象がまったく異なる姿へと変容し、同時に抽象的な記号としても立ち上がる——知覚の多層性と「見る」ことの魅力を表現しています。

カタログでは、鉛筆の正面・側面・断面を、表紙・背・裏表紙へと連続して配置。手に取り、回し、眺める行為そのものの中で視点の変化を体験できる設計としました。このコンセプトはポスターやDMへも展開し、展示全体に統一感のあるアイデンティティを形成しています。
